We’re announcing three new members to our Military Advisory Board: Samuel Linn, former Battalion Commander in the 101st Airborne Division, Chad Jagmin, former Director of the Department of Strategic Wargaming at the U.S. Army War College, and Nick Kristof, former Military Professor at the U.S. Naval War College. Our advisors will focus on ensuring that our product strategy is aligned with tangible warfighter requirements. We're honored to have these experienced advisors join us as we work to develop applied AI and gaming products for the defense industry.
Sam Linn is a retired U.S. Army Colonel who commanded a battalion in the 101st Airborne Division. He previously served as a Professor of Economics at West Point and has six deployments with Infantry and Ranger units. He has written about risk and decision-making, training and optimizing the digital killchain, and blockchain technology for national security.
Sam and I served together in the 5th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, where he was a company commander while I was a battalion staff officer. Since first meeting him in 2009, I've known Sam to be an innovator who has championed defense innovation at all levels of command throughout his military career. When I want to brainstorm new ideas, Sam is the first person I turn to because of his deep understanding of the needs and perspectives of warfighters.
Chad Jagmin is a retired U.S. Army Colonel with extensive national security experience, including deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan and key missions like Operation Enduring Freedom - Horn of Africa. He has held strategic roles on senior Department of Defense staffs, including the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the Army Staff. He served as Director of the Department of Strategic Wargaming at the Army’s Strategic Wargaming Center.
Chad's deep expertise in areas like combat modeling, operations research, educational and analytical wargaming, and program evaluation will be invaluable as we design our Fabius platform. He has been instrumental in helping us translate the complexities of operational-level warfare into effective game mechanics - a notoriously challenging task that Chad has tackled with great skill. On top of his impressive professional credentials, Chad is also an avid commercial gamer, which provides him with a unique perspective. Perhaps most notably, Chad has managed to acquire the elusive World of Warcraft 10th anniversary statue, a significant achievement to us gamers.
Nick Kristof is a retired U.S. Navy Commander who served multiple tours on and supporting submarines. He served as an Exchange Officer with the Royal Navy, stationed at the United Kingdom’s Permanent Joint Headquarters. He later served at Carrier Strike Group FIVE, stationed in Yokosuka, Japan where he spent considerable time working with and advising the Republic of Korea Navy.
Nick spent a large part of his career learning, practicing, or teaching joint warfare. He is a graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School, the Air Force Command and Staff College, and the Army War College. He taught at the Naval War College and was part of a small team that developed an operational-level, tabletop wargame, War at Sea, that is in use at the War College, at the Führungsakademie der Bundeswehr, and by the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. Nick is an avid commercial gamer. His blend of military and commercial wargaming and joint military operations experience will be a huge asset as we build our Fabius platform.
